Shanghai hairy crab (上海毛蟹)

 Shanghai hairy crab):

The price of 1 crab is 2,500 Japanese yen. too expensive , little fresh to eat !
I don't understand why people in Shanghai prefer this crab ?

Pudong, The Bund, Shanghai

The illuminated building is the old one in The Bund.

In the middle of 19th century, the Japanese saw the European buildings in Shanghai.
For example, In 1862, Shinsaku Takasugi(高杉晋作)from Choushu, a central 
figure of the early Meiji Restoration, visited this place, and surprised !  At the same time, he had a strong sense of crisis that if not to be modernized, sooner or later, Japan will be conquered by the British, French, German, Dutch or Russian.

Fortunately, in 1868, Japan done radical change of society, "Meiji Restoration".
Japanese studied the structures of European society and imported the Science
and Technologies during the late of 19th and early 20th century.
Thanks to the ancestor of the Japanese.
The riverside of Huangpujiang(黄浦川), the right side is Waitan.
The Bund in English, 外灘 in Chinese, ガイタン in Japanese ),
Waitan: the former European colony(British, French, German ---- ), some of
the buildings(right of photo), which were built in the late 19th to early 20th
century, are preserved as the historical monument.

A Trip to Shanghai and 苏州Suzhou
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

September 20th to 23th, I and my wife joined the group travel to Shanghai and
Suzhou in China. We gave up the personal travel since we can not speak Chinese.
Chartered direct flight from Ube to Shanghai. Among 4 days, sunny day was only
one day, other 3 days were cloudy and rainy. I will blog its trip.







End station of Maglev Train: Longyang Road(龍陽路), the suburb of Shanghai.
the route extension to the center of Shanghai is under construction.
The Shanghai Magrev (Magnetic levitation) Train(上海磁浮示范运营线 in Chinese)
opened January 2001. Pudong international airport to the suburbs of Shanghai
(Longyang road, 龍陽路) is around 30km. It take 8 minutes with Maximum speed 
up to 430km/hr. 
The tickets cost: single one way =50 元。

Common fig


The common fig tree is growing. This one is small tree, but some
figs are growing.
One fig is mature.
Cut to half. The taste is so sweet. The figs are sold in supermarket, usually eat in raw.
In old times, given to the patients as a nutrient.
